ELLERSLIE TRIALS

VERY FEW WORK-OUTS PRINCESS RONNIE GOES WELL With the exception of one trial, the gallops at Ellerslie this morning were not particularly interesting. The No. 3 grass and the tan were the tracks most in use. while the sand was also available. The following gallops were registered on the grass: The outstanding trial was that registered by Princess Ronnie and her companion, Storm Fiend. With lightweights up. the pair jumped off at the five-furlong peg and went smartly over the first furlong in 12 4-5. Two were covered in 25. and the complete distance in 1.2 2-5. The first-men-tioned was a good length and a-half in front at the finish, but it was a good effort on the part of Storm Fiend, for this was her first gallop since her appearance at Takapuna a couple of months ago. Acushla covered six furlongs by herself. the last five being run in 1.7 2-o, while Miss New Zealand took 1.22 4-5 for her six furlongs. Nola Night was not asked to do her best when she came over the last four of five furlongs in 57. Survey and Kelso were partners over half a mile in 54 2-5. The latter appeared to be going much better than his companion. THE TAN

The two candidates for Wellington. Sir Archie and Gala Day. were associated in a trtmt over six furlongs 1 . The time taken was 1.21. with both going comfortably at the end. Luxurious was going well within himself to cover half a mile in 53, while Town Guard was also going easily, to register 54 4-5 for the last four of five furlongs. Archeno traversed a round, the first five furlongs taking 1.4 2-5 and the full journey 2.2 1-5. In his Wellington engagements Sir Archie will have the services of. F. Foster, while Gala Day will probably be ridden by A. Driscoll.
