BRITISH TRADE BALANCE
FIGURES SHOW IMPROVEMENT By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Thursday. The Board of Trade returns for December show that imports into the United Kingdom were valued at £105,436,000, a decrease of £7,876,000 in comparison with December, 1926; exports at £58,822,000, an increase of £9,126,000, and re-exports at £10,310,000, a decrease of £1,191,000. The principal decreases in imports were: Coal, £5,829,000; raw cotton, £3,238,000: iron and steel ard manufactures thereof, £1,664,000; oils and fats, £1,257,000. Imports of dutiable food and drink increased by £1,559,000. The increases in exports were: Coal, £1,239,000: iron and steel and manufactures thereof, £1,832,000; cotton, yarns, and the manufactures thereof, i £1,604,000.—A. and N.Z.
