Harbour Board to Extend Offices
THREE-STOREY STRUCTURE extra accommodation ne entire block of land at the rear oi the Auckland Harbour Board’s oflcee on the waterfront is to be the scene of a new building of three storeys as an addition to the present structure occupied by the board. Plans have been prepared by the board’s architects, Messrs. Wade and Bartley, and tenders are now being invited. The proposed new additions will follow the general outline of the existing building, and have been under consideration by the board for some time, owing to the increasing difficulty under which the staff has been working. The office accommodation for the treasury and engineering sides of the staff will be greatly augmented. The board room will be moved from the first floor to the third floor of the new building, which will be panelled snd installed with new furniture. Quarters for a caretaker will be provided on the top floor, and it is eipected that the new block will provide adequate accommodation for the board’s offices for the next 15 or 20 years. An electric crane is also to be installed.
