MAN MISSING
LAST SEEN ON THURSDAY CLOTHES FOUND ON BEACH Missing since Thursday, fears are entertained for the whereabouts of Mr. Charles Leaning Welch, a well-known farmer, residing at Glenfield Road, Birkenhead. M J- Welch, who is a single man, aged 47 years, was last seen in the township on Thursday morning, where he cashed two cheques. Later that day people noticed some clothes in a heap on the foreshore, near the Birkenhead wharf, but as a number of people swim there no importance was attached to this. Yesterday a partv or yachtsmen came across the clothing at mid-day, and reported the matter to the police.
