LAWN TENNIS
FRANCE V. NEW ZEALAND The matches against France, which are to be held on Wednesday and Thursday of next week at the Miramar tennis grounds, Wellington, are attracting great attention, and already large bookings have come in, especially from the country. The matches should provide a very fine exhibition of big tennis, both in singles and doubles. The Miramar tennis grounds belong to the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, and when the scheme is completed about 70-odd courts will be avEiilable for play. Hard courts, as well as grass courts, are being provided, and the grounds are considered by many who have been abroad as the finest tennis playing area in the world. The New Zealanders selected to play against the Frenchmen should give a good account of themselves, both Ollivier and Bartleet being capable of making Borotra or Brugnon bring all their best shots into action. Knott and Sturt, the two Auckland colts, who have been chosen to play against Borotra and Brugnon in the doubles, won the New Zealand doubles championship last year, and were runners-up this year. The spectators will be well rewarded no matter who wins. The Frenchmen are worldbeaters, but until our team is beaten they have a chance, and will play accordingly. t KOZELUH AS COACH £y Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONIXDN, Thursday.
