BIG VAUDEVILLE ATTRACTIONS FOR REGENT The management of the New ftegent Theatre in Auckland have apparently embarked on a new policy for 1928 by introducing to New Zealand “supervaudeville” attractions, to a'ugment their picture programmes. On January 27 this iheatre will have Max, Moritz and Akka, amazihg chimpanzees too draw a salary of £350 a week, in addition to which there are the fares, etc., for nine adults and four children and other expenses. A special interpreter has to travel with this party. The Kwong Sing Wah family, from the Tivoli Theatre, Sydney, can trace their ancestry for many generations. Each generation has excelled in the art oY magic and acrobatics. This sensational troupe will also open at the New Regent at an early date. The salary of this combination is Said to approach £SOO weekly. The management have to place a deposit of £IOO for each member of the party with the Customs Department.
Henry Mortimer, who was in Auckland with “Abie’s Irish Rose,” sends greetings from the Lambs’ Club in New York. His characterisation of the kindly Rabbi in New Zealand was an excellent piece of work.
