They estimated that it was flying 300 fee't up at a high speed. One thought it was four or five miles distant, having emerged from a cloud bank. Other witnesses say the cloud bank was twelve miles away. Tim men said that they recognised the machine as a monoplane from their experience in the war. The landmg carriage, wings and tail were plainly discernable.
