MARKET BRIGHTER PUKEMIROS FIRM The market since the holidays has been somewhat quiet, but to-day better business has been recorded. Both bank and insurance shares .n most cases are firm with a steady demand. Coal shares remain steady. Pukemiros have changed hands at 635, leaving buyers at 625, no sellers appearing. Huddart-Parker shares are firm, with buyers at 48s, no sellers. Northern Steams paid are also in demand. Kauri Timber have buyers at 21s 9d sellers 235, while sales have taken place in Parker-Liimb at 17s 6d. Government and local body debentures are well sought after, with few sellers quoting. KING COUNTRY STOCK VALUES (From Our Own Correspondent) TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. Only a small yarding came forward at ♦h* Taumarunui stock sale held to-day. Sheep values declined, but the market for pigs and cattle was maintained at late rates. Prices ranged as follow: Sheep.—Wethers, 20s Bd. 22s 7d. to 23s Sd: ewes and lambs (all counted), 21s. Weaner pigs made from 15s to 225. Cattle.—Fat cows. £5 to £6 ils; good • reers. £3 to £4 8s: empty heifers, to £3 f>s; forward heifers, to £4 2s €d: Store cows. £4 6s. £4 9s. to £4 Pis; steers (rough 18-months). £2 10s; fair quality steers, to £3 8s; cows and calves, £5 17s to £7 4s.
