BIG GAME FISH
SPORT AT MAYOR ISLAND SHARKS AND KINGFISH {Prom Our Own Correspondent) TAURANGA, To-day. A fishing party, consisting of Mr. Nicoll, of England, and Mr. Bert Shorter, of Auckland, had a day’s sport at Mayor Island on Monday. They came back with two mako sharks, 152 and 2151 b respectively. They report that the sport was good. Mr. Nicoll had on his line a large swordfish, but it got away. They caught about 12 large kingfish, which made excellent sport. Mr. Shorter reckons that there is no better place for big fish than about Mayor Island, and predicts that when the place is well known it will be a great favourite with fishing sportsmen. CATCH AT WHANGAROA WHANGAROA, To-day. A swordfish weighing 2051 b was landed by Mr. Stanley Ellis, of Hamilton, yesterday, from the launch Reelemin. The weather conditions are still very’ favourable for deep sea fishing.
