PLANE TO SEARCH

(Special to THE SUN.) WELLINGTON To-day. rpHE Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Acting-Prime Minister, is discussing with Major Wilkes and various officials concerning the means of searching for the missing aviators. An airplane from Christchurch is expected in Wellington at one o’clock to search the hills. It will probably land at Trentham for instructions. Major Wilkes is proceeding to Trentham later, and may personally conduct the search. Lieutenant Moncrieff’s mother is said to be in a very nervous state. His wife is at home. Captain Hood’s wife is in Parliament Buildings awaiting the Government’s decision. She is bearing up well in the circumstances, though obviously she is feeling the strain, and is on the verge of a breakdown.
