Visitor Threatens to Burn House
FIERY VENGEANCE _ DRUNKARD DENIED ADMISSION Peeved because his friends would not receive him when he was drunk, Frederick Watkins, aged 57, threatened to burn their home down. At the Police Court to-day he pleaded guilty to a charge, of damaging the home of Maria Bottles, of No. 5 Union Street. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that accused was a friend of Mrs. Bottles and her husband. He called on them while under the influence of liquor and when they would not let him in he threatened to burn the house down. He then lit some newspapers on the verandah. He was ordered to pay the damage, 10s, and was prohibited for 12 months.
