BRIDGE AFTERNOON
Six tables were in play at the delightful little bridge afternoon given by Mrs. Sommers, of Herne Bay, yesterday afternoon, in honour of Miss H. Sommers, of Christchurch, who is at present visiting Auckland. The drawing and reception rooms were bright with sweet peas in vivid tones of pink and scarlet, and the hall, where Mrs. Sommers received her guests, was decked with bowls of stocks in pink and mauve shades. Mrs. Sommers wore an attractive gown of lotus-rose crepe de chine, panelled with Oriental lace, which appeared again at the ends of the long sleeves and in the Medici collar. Miss Sommers was wearing a tiered frock of navy blue georgette, made with a pouched top and long bishop sleeves. Brdge prizes wei;e won during the afternoon by Mrs. M. Rogers and Miss Delaney, and the consolation prizes went to Miss Farrell and Miss Waters.
