PRINCE EDWARD

“THE TE KOOTI TRAIL” “There is more real drama in its single pages than all the “cowboy brainstorms’’ of the American scenario writers. Thus speaks Rudall Hayward, the well known pioneer New Zealand film producer of James Cowan’s historical narrative of the Defence of Mill Farm, Whakatane, New Zealand, which appears in Mr. Cowan’s fascinating histories, “The New Zealand Wars and Pioneering Period,” two volumes, New Zealand Government print. The tragedy of brave “John the Frenchman,” and his beautiful Maori wife and pretty sister Monika, which is so graphically told in the history, has been made the basis of a remarkable film-play which is now being produced at Whakatane on the actual spots where it happened. More fascinating than any fiction could be is this life story from the most romantic and adventurous pages of the Dominion’s history. “The Te Kooti Trail” will be shown at the Prince Edward Theatre to-night. The many fans of the popular Universal star, Laura La Plante, are sure to enjoy the treat that awaits them—when “The Cat and the Canary,” a photodrama packed full of thrills, is shown. The story is mysterious, the plot is complex and baffling. Here’s the rest of the all-star cast: Creighton Hale, Arthur Edmund Carew, Forrest Stanley, Tully Marshall George Siegmann, Lucien Littlefield, Flora Finch, Gertrude Astor and Martha Mattox.
