PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD
GENERAL WORKS The Papakura Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. Jas. McCall, presiding. In reply to the board’s letter in connection with the drainage from the casein factory, the superintendent of the New Zealand Dairy Company advised that the factory’s last report was to the effect that the drainage was better than ever, but the superintendent and Mr. Morriss will make investigations. Mr. W. Croskery offered to form Croskery Road for the sum of £ 5 and the offer was accepted. Mr. Guillard offered about 50 yards of metal for the Hunua Road in connection with his share of the maintenance. The metal was accepted. The board decided to call for applications for the position of assistant traffic inspector. The traffic inspector reported 435 cases of motor-speeding and 89 cases of motor-cycle speeding and has been instructed to proceed with the prosecutions. It was decided to purchase two new coppers with iron frames for the convenience of picnic parties in the Railway Station Reserve. The works committee reported that water was still running over the spillway at the dam and that the average supply was 154,000 gallons a day.
