HAMILTON PUMPING PLANT WEAR ON BEARINGS (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. A serious aspect of the pumice in the Hamilton water supply is the wear on the shafts and bearings of the pumps. Extensive replacements have already been made, and if the plant is put out of action it will cost thousands of pounds.

The present conditions cannot go on indefinitely. Residents are using very little of the water supply now, but the pumping machinery is showing signs of heavy wear.
