N.S.W. MAKES RECOVERY

MATCH WITH S. AUSTRALIA CENTURY TO JACKSON By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, Saturday. In the Sheffield Shield cricket match between South Australia and New South Wales, South Australia in the first innings made 2,48 (Alexander 58, Grimmett 54, Hack 50, Ryan ' 41). Bowling for New South Wales Nicholls took five wickets for 115 rtins and McNamee two for 50. The weather was fine and the wicket good. Til© partnership between Hack and Grimmett was responsible for lively scoring, in spite of frequent changes of bowling. Grimmett gave a chance off Nicholls and another later; Alexander joined Grimmett after Hack went and pasted the bowling, running up his score in quick time. With his departure the tail was quickly disposed of. Davidson showed excellent form as wicketkeeper. When stumps were drawn New South Wales, in its second innings, had lost three wickets for 208 (Jackson 112 not out, Kippax 58, Ratcliffe 22 not out). New South Wales started badly but after two good wickets had gone cheaply young Jackson and Kippax became partnered, and the outlook changed. Jackson was brilliant and Kippax steady and punishing. They brought 150 on to the board before the partnership was dissolved. Ratcliffe shaped well. —A. and N.Z.
