DISPERSING THE MAU SOUTH SEA TRADE COMBINE . A ra 2 lo messa se from Apia states that when the Hon. G. E. L. WestH ,° n / A - Williams, and Mr. S. H. Meredith appeared before the Administrator to show cause why they should not be deported, they were asked by General Richardson to meet the Mau Committee in Apia and advise him in writing within one week what proposals they had to make for dispersing the Mau. The three citizens on appearing informed the Administrator that they were afraid that no effort on their part would be effective, but that they would try what could be done ir so desired. Advice has been received by the Auckland branch of O. P. Nelson, Ltd. that the Hon. O. F. Nelson will arrive in Auckland by the Tofua on the 23rd instant. Negotiations are pending with a London syndicate for the formation of a big South Sea trading combine, with Mr. Nelson, as managing director, conducting the business personally.
