HIS MAJESTY’S
“ROSE MARIE” Frederick Bentley's humour flooded into every corner of His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday night, making “the gods” double up -with mirth, the circle guffaw and the front stalls giggle explosively.. “Hard-boiled Herman,” the he-man gold-miner from "way back,” is a delightfully funny role which must have been made for Bentley. "Lady Jane” (Yvonne Banvare), one of the most pleasing and clever comediennes ever seen here, backs him up and gets the last inch of fun out of every situation. Harriet Bennet, who plays the title role, is a dainty and charming little lady and acquits herself well. Reginald Danby makes a convincing hero, who knows how to act his part and who sings, with understanding. Stephanie Deste plays the role of Wanda to perfection, and her acrobatic dancing is a feature of the show. “Rose Marie” will be presented until Saturday night, and there will be matinees.
