CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN
AND ARTICLES DISAPPEAR THREE MEN ARRESTED Praia Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. Certain petty thieving which coincided with the visit of Wirth’s Circus to places in the South Island resulted in a search warrant being issued in Wellington yesterday. The warrant was executed by Detec-tive-Sergeant .larrold and other detectives and several travelling rugs, shirts, collars and gloves were taken possession of by the police. Three circus hands, Robert Edward Butcher, aged 20 years, Robert Landford, 31, and Ernest Sydney Stewart, 30, were arrested and charged with having received property knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained and remanded to-day till January 10. Two charges were made against Landford Stewart, of receiving property valued at £2 and Butcher property valued at £2 4s 6d.
