A LITTLE WORLD FOR LITTLE PEOPLE
HAPPY DAYS FRIENDSHIP is a steady light shining in dark places “I SAW that little New Year come down to earth, Dawn Lady. I He had a crown of flowers on his head and a gleaming wand in his hand. Every place he touched with the wand is going to have a whole year of happy days. When he asked me where I came from I told him all about Happy Town and he is going to take particular care of our little world for little people.” “And the Old Year has found shelter with us, Little Thought, so we simply can’t help being happy.” “I have been busy all the morning doing a painting for the competition,” said the Doorkeeper, “but I am afraid it will not win the prize. I found the three hidden people in the picture and painted them in, but the colours seemed determined to run.” “You should always let one part dry before you begin on the next,” said the Joy Shop man, wisely. “That is the whole secret of successful painting The boy who won the last competition was ever so careful with his entry and took a long, long time over it.” "Yes,” said the Doorkeeper, “it was splendidly done The Dawn Lady still has it on the wall.” “The Sunbeams have been telling the Dawn Lady about their presents. The old man with the white beard brought them some wonderful things. I knew he wouldn’t forget them.” “He saw all the names in the big Sunbeam Book, Little Thought,” said the Dawn Lady. “I think that must be why.” “They have water-balls and bathing costumes, dolls, books Teddy bears and all the things children like. Most of them an? holiday-making and have taken their new presents with them.” “Is there anything you don’t know, Little Thought?” asked the Doorkeeper, with a glance of admiration.
