ARGENTINE STUD CATTLE

SOLD AT “MISERABLE” PRICES

Writing of the sale of the champion Shorthorn bulls at Buenos Aires Show, the “Argentine Weekly” declares that the less said about it the better. Speaking of the grand champion, Mitikile Lovely Chief, it is said that “one of the finest bulls seen at the show in recent years was sold at the relatively miserable price of £3,083, and it took the auctioneers the better part of 35 • minutes even to get that. There was not a livestock dealer or breeder in the hall who did not believe that Lovely Chief would easily rise to the £6,000 mark, and there were exclamations of astonishment when the grand champion was knocked down at the price mentioned.” The reserve champion, Faithful Clipper, was sold for £2,166. The price paid for Lovely Chief is the smallest given for a Palermo grand champion since 1914.
