LAUNDRY-DAY HINTS

Copper stains on white clothes are often a. source of housewifely annoyance. It is a nuisance to find otherwise immaculately white articles blemished in this way. To avoid the trouble, get a child’s hoop, a little larger than the copper-top; make a bag of strong calico, sew tapes on, tie to the hoop, and place this in the copper. Boil the clothes in the bag in the ordinary way. There will be no more copper-stain trouble. Incidentally, a sliced lemon will enhance the whiteness of the clothes if boiled with them. The Ideal Clothes-Peg Bag A peg-bag made with a coat-hanger, to which is sewn a bag made of Hessian canvas, is the ideal way out of a washtub-day difficulty. Thanks to the coat-hanger, the bag can be pushed along the line as the clothes are hung out, thus saving endless stooping.
