ANNUAL TOURNAMENT WIN FOR WHAKATANE (From Our Own Correspondmitj OPOTIKI To-day. The annual tournament which took place at Whakatane between teams from Tauranga, Te Puke, Rotorua, Whakatane and Opotiki, resulted in Whakatane winning the Francis Cup. Play was of a high standard throughout, keen interest being shown by the bowlers present. The winning sections proved to be: A section, Whakatane team, E. Carrah, E. Grant, P. Bridger and W. Sloan© (skip), six wins. Section B: Te Puke team, Sherman, Wilkie, Budd, Butcher (skip), six wins. The play-off resulted in a win for Whakatane after a sterling struggle.
