AN OPTIMIST

A LTHOUGH Speed King has not sported silk since the Northland Club fixture at Whangarei, owner-trainer Geo. Stubbs is keeping the big gelding up to the collar, but the son of Our Thorpe is not making much advancement. His owner certainly deserves to meet with better results as he is most patient and persevering with the awkward-gaited pacer. George is also an optimist of the first degree, and is at present contemplating a trip to Hastings with a view to competing in the Hawke’s Bay Cup. If he goes Stubbs will carry with him the best wishes of Auckland sportsmen for success in his enterprising venture.
