DUNEDIN THRIFT
SAVINGS BANKED DESPITE HARD WINTER WITHDRAWALS NORMAL Press Association. DUNEDIN. To-day. For nine months ended December 31 the deposits at the Dunedin Savings Bank (not Government) were £ 665.1 SS and withdrawals £ 468.281. As last year was considered to be a bad one both commercially and financially, returns show that people have been thrifty. Business houses have complained of an easing-off in spending during the winter, and although unemployment was serious for a lengthy period the bank returns show that in the middle of the winter the average deposits were maintained while withdrawals were not above normal.
