TOFU A AT SUVA.—-Cable advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva at 9 p.m. last "Wednesday from Auckland and leaves this afternoon for Tonga and Samoa.
UNION ROYAL MAIL LINE.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the R.M.S. Maunganui replaces the R.M.S. Tahiti in the Sydney-San Francisco service for three voyages, viz., June 14, August 9 and October 4, from Sydney.
MESOPOTAMIA TO DOCK. —Henderson and Macfarlane advise that the tramp steamer Mesopotamia will complete her discharge to-morrow and will dock on Monday for cleaning and painting. On Tuesday the vessel will leave Auckland for Westport for bunkers before proceeding to Nauru Island to load for Auckland again.
CANADIAN PROSPECTOR REPORTS. —A wireless message received by the Canadian Government Line states that the Canadian Prospector expects to arrive from Montreal and Sydney (Cape Breton) on Monday afternoon. She left Montreal on November 27 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin.
WAIRUNA FROM PACIFIC COAST.— The Union Company’s trans-Pacific cargo steamer Wairuna arrived at Auckland shortly before seven o’clock this morning from the Pacific Coast of America and berthed at King’s Wharf to commence discharge. The vessel loaded at Vancouver, Portland, Gray’s Harbour, New Westminster, Seattle and San Francisco, and sailed finally from the lastnamed port on December 10. Coming across the Pacific she experienced moderate to fair weather, and made good progress till yesterday, when the strong north-easterly delayed her arrival by several hours. The Wairuna had an uneventful trip.
Captain J. Ryan is in command, and associated with him are the following officers: Chief, Mr. J. Ritchie second, Mr. R. Tulloek; third, Mr. J. E. Braughton; wireless operator. Mr. E. H. Heather; chief engineer, Mr. P. E. Currick; second, Mr. A. G. Weld: third, Mr. M. J. Barr; fourth, Mr. W. J. Rugg; chief steward, Mr. T, Taylor.

HINEMOA DUE SATURDAY.— Spedding. CANADIAN CHALLENGER. —A ca b le message from Panama reports the airival of the Canadian Government ptearaer Challenger en route- from Hali to Auckland? Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel left Halifax on December 24, and is due at Auckland about February S. ATHENIC AT PICTON. —Now loading: at Picton, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the liner Athemc leaves to-morrow for Gisborne, thence Lyttelton and Wellington to complete. The Athenic sails finally from Wellington at 6 a.m. on January 27 for Southampton and London, via Panama. THE Cl TV OF WINCHESTER.; —Due at Timaru to-day from Wanganui, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the chartered steamer City of Winchester later proceeds to Port Chalmers to complete her loading. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from the Otago port on January 15 for London, via Panama. HORORATA TO LOAD.—Leaving Port Chalmers to-day for Wellington, thence Napier and Auckland, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Hororata is due here on January 16 to complete loading. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from Auckland on January 21 for New York, Halifax and London, via Panama.^ SURREY SAILING. —To-morrcw the New Zealand Shipping Company hopes to dispatch the Federal steamer Surrey from Auckland for further loading at Napier, Waikokopu and Wellington. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally* from Wellington on January 21 for London and West of England ports, via Panama. NORFOLK ARRIVES. —To complete her loading under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Federal steamer Norfolk arrived at Auckland early this morning from Napier and berthed at the Queen’s Wharr. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel finally from here on January 11 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama. RUAHINE DUE SUNDAY. —The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised tnat the liner Ruahine leaves Wellington to-day for Auckland, where she is due on Sunday to complete her discharge of London cargo, and to commence her loading for her return voyage. PORT SYDNEY IN PORT. —An arrival in port this morning was the C. and D. Line’s motor-ship Port Sydney from New Plymouth, to continue her loading under the auspices of Heather, Roberton and Company. The vessel is to leave Auckland to-morrow for Napier, thence Wellington and Lyttelton to complete loading and is scheduled to clear the latter port finally on January 21 for London, via Panama.
AORANGI AT VANCOUVER.—-Due at Vancouver to-day the Union Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi leaves next Wednesday on her return trip to Svdney, via ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on Sunday, January 29, and owing to Monday, January 30, being Anniversary Day, the Aorangi is to leave Auckland on' Tuesday, January 31, for Sydney. MAR AM A SAILING. —At three o’clock this afternoon the Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Maraina is to be dispatched with passengers, mail and cargo for Sydney. DIESEL ELECTRIC TANKERS.— It is understood that the Atlantic Refining Company may shortly place orders for three large tankers to be equipped with Luesel electric machinery and that the contracts will be given to British or Continental yards, states the “Motor Ship. It will be remembered that these owners ordered a 12,500-ton Diesel electric tanker from Scott’s Shipbuilding and Engineering Company a short time ago and that this is supplied with CareTsIngersoll Rand oil engines, the electrical equipment being manufactured by the British Thomson Houston Co.
