DEBT GROWS GREATER
CONCERN IN AUSTRALIA TOO MUCH BORROWING By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 11.15 a.m. MELBOURNE To-day In his annual address to the members of the Stock Exchange. Mr. F. Woods, the chairman, expressed concern at the rate at which Australia is borrowing. He said economy with discretion appeared to be more necessary than ever. The national debt was increasing at a greater rate than it should do. The question of the national debt should be carefully examined. For the past year the borrowing had increased by nearly £35.D0j,000. There seemed to be a tendency to get everything under control except the cost of production and borrowing.— A. and N.Z.
