ARGYLE ST. FATALITY INQUEST ON MRS. BRITTAIN

The inquest on Mrs. Ethel Brittain, of 2 Codrington Road, Grey Lynn, who was killed at the Argyle Street railway crossing on December 24, was opened to-day. Mrs. Brittain had been killed instantaneously by an engine, and her four-year-old son was injured. Nicholas John Tibbie, fireman on the engine, said that the whistle was sounded three times before the crossing was reached. He noticed the woman walking slowly toward the line, but see the accident. Harold Kenneth Nicholson, driver of the engine, said that as soon as he saw the woman near the line, he ap plied the brakes, and dropped sanu. hut could not avoid the accident. Mr. R. A. Singer, who appeared for the relatives, applied for an adjournment, to call other evidence at present unavailable.

The inquest was accordingly adjourned sine die.
