A HARD MAN TO SHIFT
Even when Worker was playing in Dunedin, it was the general opinion that we would sooner see Jack McMul-
lan’s back any day of the week than any other batsmarked A. W. Alloo at Eden Park on Saturday. Certainly, the perspiring Auckland bowlers must have heaved a sigh of relief when
they saw the last of the sturdy Dunedinite, whose great uphill innings on Monday gave Auckland “seriously to think.” McMullan is not an elegant bat, but he gets there just the same, combining a dour defence with powerful driving and hooking. His scores of 51 and 131 against Auckland must bring.him into serious consideration for the New Zealand team to meet the Australians this season. *
