COBURN SPRINGS SURPRISE IN WHANGAREI TOURNAMENT

(Fro ti Our Oven Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Wednesday

A remarkable eleventh-hour run by Coburn (Whangarei) was the feature of the North Auckland Bowling Centre’s tournament, ■which concluded to-day. Coburn had only four wins at the end of the sixth round, and it looked as if Pearce (Kensington), and Donaldson (Whangarei) would fight out the final, this pair having six and five wins respectively. Coburn beat Donaldson by a single point on 11 heads in an exciting semifinal, and in the final, McMahon, Sothern, Allan and Coburn easily defeated Horne Cliff. Simons and Pearce by 24 to 9.
