"BLONDES PREFER...?”

Anita Loos, author of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” was asked to broadcast a message from 2LO before she left London for home recently. This is what she said: “I’m terribly glad to be in London and shall be awfully sorry to leave it. I mean if I am ever able to retire I should prefer to retire in London. “Lots of people have asked me If gentlemen really do prefer blondes, and I’m sorry to say ‘Yes, they do.’ I mean, it seems so hard on all the brunettes in Italy and Spain and Darkest Africa. “But I expect they will be all right if they can acquire a ‘blonde personality.’ “It is also true that bondes prefer gentlemen, and although I am not a blonde myself, I am quite satisfied with a lot of men friends who are not gentlemen.”

Many of the outstanding models are trimmed with crystal, strass and rhinestones.

Net expresses some of the most alluring dance frocks. It may be plain black net combined with net that is dotted with metal. It may be net of gold or of silver. One gold net model, with a mesh quite as coarse as a fishing net, was mounted with telling effect over a salmon-coloured slip.
