PERSONAL. —Captain TV Urquhart is in command of the Federal steamer Hertford, which arived at Auckland on Tuesday evening last from Liverpool,, and the following are his officers: —Chief, Mr. A. E. Littington: second. Mr. A. J. Bell: third. Mr. J. R. Ricketts: fourth. Mr. J. E. Pierce: wireless operator, Mr. A. H T. Corbold; chief engineer, Mr. W. W Prophet; second, Mr. C. T. Mayo; third. Mr. J. W. Fulton; fourth. Mr. J. Armstrong; fifth, Mr. C. W. Richardson: sixth, Mr. D. A. Myles; seventh, Mr. t. Jenkyn; chief refrigerating engineer. Mr. G. Donald; second. Mr. F. Liddel, steward-in-charge, Mr. W. P. Scane. Captain A. Pert is in command oi the Northern Company’s steamer Ngatrawa, which was recommissioned shortly Dei ore the Christmas holidays, and the following are his officers:—Chief. Mr. H. Gibson; second, Mr. E. Gibson; chief engineer. Mr. A. Price: second. Mr. C. Mitchell; chief steward. Mr. S. Wright. Mr. R. Martin has signed on as chiet officer of the Northern Company s Matangi, vice Mr. M illiam Robertson. Captain T. Donovan has been appointed to the command of the Apanui in place of Captain illiam Robertson, who is on holiday leave. Captain M. Pierotti has been appointed to the command of the auxiliary schooner Otimai, vice Captain . Gash, who is on holiday leave. Mr H Parker has signed ort as chief officer of the Gisborne steamer Tiroa, his place ’being taken by Mr. C. Du Rhone. FLASHING BEACON.—A new flashing beacon has been installed at the mourn of the Piako Rivet to aid its nav-ganon hv steamers trading from Auckland. The Ilahr which is located at the outer entrance to the river, shows red sector and white elsewhere. The two leading beacon lights formerly exhibited on tne Pipiroa or western side of the nver have been dismantled. CARGO FROM MELBOURNE. The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Kaiwarra has been fixed to load at Melbourne about the l.th of this month for Auckland. SYDNEY STEAMERS.—At 3 P.m. tomorrow the Manama leaves Auckland and the Maunganui leaves Wellington for Sidney. while at noon the same day the unmaroa sails from Sydney for Wellington. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. K A PONG A LEAVING MELBOURNE. —Advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the cargo 'steamer Kaponga leaves Melbourne today for Newcastle to complete loading for Wellington and Auckland. The Kaponga should arrive here about January 16.
MIN FROM NEW YORK,—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Min is expected to arrive from New York about Monday. The ves-
sel -is running under the auspices of the A. and A. Line and has case oil and general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin.
WAIRUNA REPORTS AGAIN.—A farther radio message received by the local office o‘f the Union Company states that the Wairuna is meeting with bad weather, and is now expected to arrive at Auckland at 7 a.m. to-morrow from the Pacific Coast ports. After discharge here, the Wairuna proceeds to Wellington. Beauty Point, Melbourne and Sydney.
HINEMOA DELAYED.—Further advice has been received by Spedding, Ltd., that the Government steamer Hinemoa is still meeting with bad weather and is now expected to arrive at Auckland at noon on Saturday from Norfolk Island. The Hinemoa now leaves here at 3 p.m. on Monday next on her return, trip to Norfolk Island.
ARAWA CLEARED PANAMA.—L. D. Nathan and Company, Limited, have received advice that the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Arawa, en route from London and Southampton with passengers, mail and cargo for New Zealand, cleared Balboa last Sunday morning. The cargo will be unloaded at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on January* 22. MIDDLESEX BRINGING EXPLOSIVES. —The Federal Line steamer Middlesex, which sailed from London on December 23 for Auckland, Wellington and New Plymouth, is scheduled to reach Auckland on January 2S. In addition to general merchandise the vessel has explosives which will be unloaded at the Motuihi anchorage before she comes into port. WAIHEMO RADlOS.—According to a further radio message received by the local office of the Union Company, the Waihemo is now expected to arrive here at 5 p.m. to-morrow from Singapore and Samarang. After landing the local portion of her cargo at Auckland, the Waihemo proceeds to Wellington, thence Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. K U ROW IN PORT.—An arrival at Auckland last evening was the Union Company's collier Kurow (Captain W. Whitefield) from Newcastle with coal for discharge here. The vessel left Newcastle last Thursday artd experienced fair weather Tor the run across the Tasman Sea. After discharge here the Kurow loads at Auckland, and sails next Tuesday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. WEST TOGUS ARRIVING.—The arrival of the American steamer West Togus has been delayed by bad weather. She is now expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland about 1.30 p.m. today, and after pratique has been granted will berth at the Central Wharf to unload to the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane. The -vessel should leave Auckland again on Saturday for Beauty Point, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. PORT SYDNEY DUE.—Having left New Plymouth at 4 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, Heather, Roberton and Company expects the C. and D. Line’s motorship Port Sydney to arrive here early to-morrow morning to continue her loading for Home. She is to leave Auckland on Saturday for Napier, thence Wellington and Lyttelton to complete and is scheduled to sail finally from the latter port on January 21 for London via Panama.
