DEATHS IN PROVINCE

MRS. W. SAVILL After a prolonged illness, the death occurred on Tuesday last, at Te Awamutu, of Mrs. W. Savill, at the age of 69 years. The deceased lady arrived with her husband at Te Awamutu about four years ago from Kaitoke and Maungaturoto, and ever since her arrival has been in indifferent health, necessitating careful nursing. The late Mrs. Savill leaves a husband and family of seven (including Mr. W. C. Savill and Miss Savill, of Te Awamutu. The funeral took place at the Te Awamutu cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.

MR. JOHN SUMMERVILLE

At Pukekohe, on Wednesday morning, Mr. John Summerville, one of the pioneer settlers of the district, died at the age of 86. Born in Maryborough, County Cavan Ireland, Mr. Summerville married there and came to the Dominion in the ship Dauntless, in 1864. He farmed a small section at Patumahoe and later took over a larger holding nearer Pukekohe. which he farmed for over 50 years. About nine years ago he retired and went to live at Pukekohe. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Messrs. William Summerville Waiuku; Alexander Summerville Kariotahi, Waiuku; John Summerville, Pukekohe; and Robert Summerville. Auckland; and four daughters, Mesdames H. Barber, Ruakura; S. Salisbury, Hamilton; J. E. West, Matamata; and G. Hart, Pukekohe. There are 22 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.

MR. WALTER T. ONIONS

Mr. Walter Thomas Onions has died at Thames, at the age of 74. Born in Birmingham, England, Mr. Onions came to New Zealand in 1865 in the sailing-ship King of Italy. For

many years he held an executive post for the Thames County Council, and formed many of the roads that now traverse that county.

Mr. Onions is survived by two sons and six daughters. There are 16 grandchildren and four great-grand-children.
