MONTANA DESPERADO MURDERS OFFICERS

SHOT IN SLEIGH THIEF TAKES TO HILLS By Cable.—Press Association. — CopyTHght. NEW YORK, Tuesday. A notorious Montana desperado. Ben Hamilton, stole some cattle in the week preceding Christmas. The police spread an alarm through the countryside, and finally Sheriff Babcock and his two deputies. Withington and Cummings, captured Hamilton in Idaho. They brought him back to his native village, and when they were passing his house the thief requested permission to obtain a change of clothing. The sleigh was stopped and Hamilton entered the house. A moment later he reappeared with a gun, with which he shot the three officers through the head before again taking to the hills. Searchers found the men dead and still seated in the sleigh.—Sun.
