HALF EMPTY RESERVOIRS RAIN URGENTLY NEEDED The city reservoirs are now half empty, the recent showers not hav- j ing affected the position. J For a hundred days there has noj ! been sufficient rain in the hills in oat 1 day to meet a day’s demand. The av«*» age holding in the dams is usuafly 1 about 800,000.000 gallons, but this hai now been reduced to some 475.000.00! ‘ and the city is using some nine and t* j quarter million gallons daily. Of th* j about two and a-quarter millions * I drawn from running streams, and oo* and three-quarter million gallons frost Western Springs, the remainder com* ing from the dams. The only rain throughout the holii days was the heavy shower yc3terdU morning, which was appreciated b! gardeners, but the effects of which are already disappearing. J The Waterworks Committee of tht City Council is meeting this afterao*! to consider the position.
