Australians to Compete at Muriwai

Four Drivers Coming With Speedy Cars

A team of Australian racing cars will compete at the forthcoming Muriwai meeting, and advice has been received in Auckland of the cars and drivers that are coming over.

Particular interest centres round the cars being brought by Mr. Russell Taylor. He is bringing an eight-cylin-der Grand Prix Bugatti, known as the “Monza” Model, which is one of the only three cars ever built.

This car has recently lapped at over 100 m.p.h. on the famous Maroube Speedway, Sydney, which is a great achievement on such a small course. The experience gained there will be invaluable on the Muriwai course with its many turns. Mr. Taylor is also bringing a four-cylinder Grand Prix model Bugatti. Another model Bugatti known as the “Advax,” is being brought by Mr. C. East.

Other drivers who hope to make the trip are Messrs. Hope Bartlett and Meredith, both of whom will be remembered for their appearances here last year. Mr. Hope Bartlett is the holder of the New Zealand Light Car Cup.

The Australian team will leave Sydney by the Marama on January 27.
