A Visit to “BEN HUR” REV. JASPER CALDER writes:— “I had an experience to-day that i shall not forget for years. Mrs. Calder and I went to see ‘Ben-Hur.’ Things began well by virtue of the orchestral opening played in fine style. As to the picture itself—well, I’ve Just come in from seeing it, and I’m still a little overcome. It is the most inspiring drama I’ve ever seen. It keeps pretty well to the book, and is staged on a most lavish scale. The sacred scenes are handled with becoming reverence. One never sees a close up picture of Our Lord. His presence is suggested, rather than portrayed, by a brief glimpse of His hands upraised in healing or blessing. The chariot race cannot be described. “See it, my friends, when it comes, if you live on two meals a day for a week to make up for it. You’ll not regret it, believe me.” /~k“| *2* Have paid to see the Strand • Presentation of “Ben Hur." Ask anyone of this great number what he thinks cf it.
