MR. E. GRIFFITHS , Commodore Victoria Cruising Club
Ernest Griffiths, who was elected commodore of the Victoria Cruising Club at its last annual meeting, is a well-known figure to the older generation of Waitemata boatmen. He has been actively associated with his club for many years and has taken part in the sport for upwards of two decades. Mr. Griffiths is now part-owner of the launch Areta, which was acquired two seasons ago, but he has had
long experience with yachts of the patiki and mulletboat classes. He took up yachting 22 years ago when he joined the crew of the patiki Doreen, which raced practically unbeaten. Two years later he sailed in Colleen with Mr. G. Mob-

Griffiths berley, who really unnxns started “Griffo,” as his inUmaie friends call him, on fcis C K a,e „ er : Then after some time in Uils boat he raced very successfully in the 20ft mullet-boat Decima for three seasons. This boat won In the Auckland Regatta three years In succession. During the 1917-18 season he made a change from sail to power when he joined the crew of Mr. p. Hickson's auxiliary craft Ocean. Subsequently he became associated with Mr. W L Casey and motored for three years in the old Imanota. Mr. Griffiths has always been keen to do his share on the management side of aquatics. Ho has served as committeeman of Victoria for eight years and has acted as judge of harbour races for three years. He Is a member of the Auckland Regatta Committee and has been assistant starter for that body for seven years.
