FALL FROM FIRE ESCAPE
YOUNG MARINE KILLED CITY HOTEL FATALITY Henry John Weaning, aged 20, a marine on H.M.S. Dunedin, and a champion boxer, died in the Auckland Hospital yesterday from a fractured skull. He was found early yesterday morning in an unconscious condition at the bottom of a light well in the Victoria Hotel. It is surmised that he fell from a. fire-escape. At the inquest held to-day by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. it was stated that Weaning had booked in at the hotel for the night, but no one saw him leave his room. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
