RIVER VESSEL AGROUND

WAIKATO TOO SHALLOW As a result of the closing of the Arapuni dam the river steamer Rawhiti went aground near Rangiriri on Thursday. Two cargo-laden barges which the Rawhiti was towing were left behind. It is not expected that the Rawhiti will be able to proceed further upstream until the Waikato River rises.
