NATIONAL
ROYAL AUSTRALIAN SUNBEAMS “Carnival Time,” the new production of the Royal Australian Sunbeams, now being - presented at the National Theatre, is excellent entertainment. Although only children, the performers give their items in a way which would be a credit to adults. Jackie Clarke and Baby Doreen are well-known as exceptionally talented children and are always popular. Harry Ussher, the wonderful boy soprano, is a singer of sweet songs, and Gwen Jones, the india-rubber comedienne, shows great ability. The ballet numbers are very good, the “Dance of the Dolls’’ and “Butterflies and Roses” being particularly pleasing. The Acrobatic Sunbeams present a new act, and give a remarkable display of tumbling and the formation of human pyramids. A complete new picture programme is screened, the feature being “Singed,” starring Blanche Sweet and Warner Baxter.
