RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM
“THE MUSIC MASTER” There are no plays like the old plays. Or, at least that seemed the verdict of the large and enthusiastic audiences which filed away from the Rialto and Regent Theatres last night after the opening show of “The Music Master.” There were many there who had seen it as a stage production when it swept the country 20 years ago, and it is not strange that it should have touched them with the memories it recalled. But there were many, too,
of a younger generation, and even they were seen wiping away a furtive tear. Alee Francis, in the title role, does the best work of his career, portraying the lonely old musician with great sympathy and feeling. Lois Moran brings to the role of the daughter that subtle spiritual quality which, combined with her youth and beauty, has made her one of the most promising of the young screen stars. Neil Hamilton is cast as her fiance, and the rest of the cast includes such capable players as Norman Trevor, Kathleen Kerrigan, Charles Lane and Marcia Harris.
