r PHE next weight-for-age event at the Auckland meeting is the Clifford Plate, one mile and a-haif, on the concluding day, T uesday. It is understood that the two Southern cracks, Count Cavour and Rapier, will be certain starters in the event of their coming through Monday’s racing all right. Count Cavour has a fine record in this contest, and a bout between him and Rapier, perhaps with Star Stranger and one or two more thrown in, will provide a fitting struggle to conclude a notable carnival of racing.
