Their Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson, who are going to Christchurch on January 20, will go into residence at “Elmwood,” the home of Sir Heaton Rhodes. Miss Maud Atkinson, of Timaru, is spending a holiday in Auckland, and is staying with her mother, Mrs. Atkinson, of Remuera Road. Mr. and Mrs. Meredith, of Cambridge, are at present visiting Auckland, and are among the guests at Royal Court. Miss Alison Greig is spending a short holiday in Russell. * * * Miss Williams, of Christchurch, who has been staying at Kawau, is now in Auckland, and is staying at Royal Court. * * * Mrs. Thompson, of Coromandel, left Auckland this morning for her home, after spending a holiday here. Mrs. C. H. Drysdale, of Auckland, is spending a holiday in Ngongotaha. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Quartley have returned to town after a visit to Havelock North, where they attended the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Quartley. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Craigliouse, of Christchurch, are visiting Auckland, and are the guests of Mrs. A. Rogers, Parnell. Mrs. Wilding and the Misses Wilding, of Dunedin, are staying in Auckland as the guests of Mrs. Russell, Epsom. * * * Mrs. Alex. Duncan, of Dunedin, is at present staying in Auckland for a holiday visit. * * m Mrs. Frank Graham is a visitor to Auckland from Christchurch, and has been here over the Chistmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Burnett and family are spending the holidays at Greenhithe. * * * Mr. and Mrs. T. Parkinson are Christchuch visitors to Auckland, and are the guests of Mrs. C. Hall, Remuera Road. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Graeme Alderton, of Oriental Bay, Wellington, are staying with Mr. G. Alderton, at Takapuna, for a holiday. * * * Miss Cicely Morris, of Timaru, is staying with Mrs. R. Johns, of Devonport, for a few weeks’ holiday. * * * Mrs. J. F. Montague and Miss Helen Montague, of Carlton Gore Road, have taken a house at St. Heliers Bay for a few weeks. Mrs. A. Morton, of Hamilton, is spending a few weeks’ holiday at St. Heliers Bay. Mrs. W. C. Ring, of Hinuera, and Miss Tui Ring, of Wellington, are at present staying at^Kawau. Mrs. C. B. Wake, of Hamilton, is staying in Auckland over the holiday season. * * • Mrs. Frank Mackay, of Auckland, is the guest in Cambridge of Mrs. James Taylor. * * * Miss Heywood has returned to Auckland after a brief holiday spent in Hamilton. • • • Miss Alice Law, L.R.A.M., of Auckland, is visiting Wellington at present. Mrs. Kenneth Raymond, of Auckland, is spending a holiday in Wellington. * * * Women were more generously represented at the last New South Wales Society of Artists’ Exhibition in Sydney than before. They had sent in 40 out of the 180 pictures on view. Miss Cecil Hall is at present spending a holiday in Dunedin.^ Mr. E. Hinds and Miss Effie Hinds of Christchurch, who have been in America for some months, are arriving in Auckland by the Niagara on January 2. * * * Miss Lloyd, of England, is the guest of Miss Wilkie, Gardner Road, Epsom. Miss M. Vernon is a passenger by the Ulimaroa to-day. • • • Mr. and Mrs. H. lan Simson are visiting Rotorua. * • • Miss Rawson, of Auckland, is a visitor to Timaru. * * * Mr. and Mrs. H. Ulrich, of Tarakohe, Nelson, are staying with Mr. G. E. Alderton, of Takapuna. Mrs. M. Carrick and Miss Spear have returned to Waitara from a visit to and Waitomo Caves. Miss A. F. Thomson, of Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Gilkinson, Karori, Wellington. Mrs. Spence, of Suva, Fiji, is at present in Auckland, and is the guest of Mrs. C. E. Maguire, with- whpi she will stay for a month. Miss C. Rainger is at present spending a holiday in Huntly. Miss K. Edgerley and Miss I. Gray left last evening to join the Port Fremantle for London. Captain and Mrs. Wilcox left for the South last evening by the Limited. Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey, of Christchurch, arrived from the South this morning. Mrs. Coldicutt and Mrs. Pharazyn were among the passengers who left for the South last evening by the Limited. Miss Marjorie Ellis, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lee, at Birkdale. Mr. and Mrs. Nixon, of Thames, are staying at the Albert Hotel. Miss Carrutli, of Whangarei, is staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. J. Broadfoot, of Gisborne, and Colonel and Mrs. Noel Adams, of Wharekawa, are among the guests at the Cargen. Sir Percival and Lady Perry, of England, are at the Grand Hotel. They are accompanied by Misses W. and M. Perry. Mr. and Mrs. John Grim, of Soberd, U.S.A., and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Carter, of Westport, are among those at the Royal Hotel. At the Grand Hotel are Miss Heggarty and Miss Holden, of Gisborne.
