Mayor “Big Bill” Thompson, of Chicago, notorious and ridiculous for his campaign against English “propaganda,” called some lady teachers to his aid to-day to show what a tyrant is Mr. William McAndrew, the Scottish superintendent of schools, whose prosecution by the Mayor, recently, was practically laughed out of court. One lady called him Simon Degree, while a 50-year-old spinster said that McAndrew made her life what General Sherman said war was. “And that was Hell,” prompted Thompson’s lawyer, while the lady smiled assent.
