THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
Yesterday afternoon, at the camp onvention of the Theosophical Society, at the society’s property at Yasanta, Mt. St. John, Epsom, a conference was held of representatives from various parts of the Dominion of the Order of the Star, which is the body that has taken the place of the Order of the Star in the East, since the work of the former, which was to herald the Coming of the World Teacher, has eased with the announcement of His presence in the world. The chief business of the conference was to receive the report of the organising secretary for New Zealand. This disclosed that there are 18 branches of the order in the Dominion with a total membership of about 500. The objects of the Order of the Star are two: (1) To draw together all those who believe in the presence of the World Teacher in the world; and (2) to work with Him for the establishing of His ideals. The order is represented now in 45 countries, and Hs headquarters are at Eerde, Omroen, Holland, where every year a huge ia -tnp convention is held to which as a ny as 2,000 people come, chiefly for the purpose of hearing Mr. Krisimam urti, who is the head of the order, and recognised vehicle for the ex pres■uon of the Master’s message. Membership is open to all who subscribe to the objects of the order, and there 18 no fee for such membership. Tie national representative of the order for Zealand is the Rt. Rev. J. R. 'homson. and the organising secrelary is Miss E. Hunt, of Christchurch.
