Mr. H. L. Halliday, who recently resigned the post of Samoa Public Trustee, on returning toiNew Zealand, took a prominent interest in Samoaii affairs during his long stay in tne Islands. Mr. Halliday. -*ho returned earlier in the week by the Tofua. will be »=■ sociated with the Customs Departmen in Auckland after the holidays. He arrived in Samoa with the Espe dionary Forces in 1914 and except i a break of three years, was co “ l i'l | . ously engaged in the Samoa ~Jl® Service. He filled the positions Colleetor of Customs, Local Audito for the Administration, chairman the Board of Trade, member ot “ Legislative Council, Official Assign and the office he recently left* Samoa Public Trustee. . , In the field of sport Mr. HaUi»was president of the Apia Tea "\ Club, a committeeman and c 0 ' steward of the Apia Turf Cl u '- ) - a r - r? mitteeman of the Apia Golf Club, president and chairman of the : /; agement committee of the Apia Kt* ■ Union, vice-president of Apia Referees’ Association, captain 01 Nomads’ Cricket Club, and a trus of the Apia Park. . .
