NORTH ISLAND TITLE WHITEMAN’S WIN Press Association. WANGANUI, To-day. The North Island rifle shooting championship match was won to-day by C. A. Whiteman (Upper Hutt Club) who finished two points ahead of W. A. West (Renwick) and T. Marrett (New Plymouth). The shoot-off for second money was won by West. The best scores in the championship were: C. A. Whiteman (Upper Hutt) 46, 321, £10; W. H. West (Renwick), 44, 319, and T. Marrett (New Plymouth) 44, 319, £5 each; W. J. Green (Ikawa), 47, 317, £3; A. V. Swanson (Karori), 45, 317, £2. The scores obtained by competitors in the teams match were as follows: Territorials, 437; Suburbs, 456; Hawera 454; Linton, 447; Wanganui B, 446; Petone, 440: Featherston. 439; Wanganui A, 434; New Plymouth, 424; Karori, 423. The best scores in the optional aggregate (over Taranaki match, 500yds., Wellington 600yds., Manawatu 500yds., and Hawke’s Bay 600yds), were; L. G. Benton (Featherston), 187, £10; E. King (Wanganui), 183, £7; R. Donald (Featherston), 182, £5; T. Marrett (New Plymouth), 181, £4; E. E. Vennal (Te Wharau) 181, £3; Governlock (Wanganui), 181, £2. The Masterton Match (300yds., 10 shots) resulted: C. W. Whiteman (Upper Hutt), 48, £5; W. H. West (Renwick), 48, £4;.C. H. Speck (Kaponga), 48, £3; D. Roots (Patea), 48, The Manawatu Match (500yds., 10 shots) resulted: W. G. Green (Okawa) 49, £5; C. Whiteman (Upper Hutt). 49, £4; E. S. King (Wanganui), 48 and D. Roots (Patea) 48, £2 10s each. The Hawke’s Bay Match (600yds., 10 shots) resulted; T. Marrett (New Plymouth), 48, £5; H. Barlow (Linton), 47, £4; E. E. Vennal (Te Wharau), 46, £3; A. S. Ballinger (Petone), 46, £2.
