NATIONAL

COMPLETE NEW PROGRAMME A complete change of programme was presented at the National Theatre to-day. a The Royal Australian Sunbeams appear in their second production “Carnival Time,” in which there is r.iw scenery, dressing and ballets. The Sunbeams need no introduction to Auckland audiences, their performances in the last production endearing them to all lovers of clever vaudeville. All are pupils of Miss Chrissie Royal, one of Australia’s foremost teachers of stage, fancy and acrobatic dancing. The company of 35 artists includes Jackie Clarke, who is well-known on both sides of the Tasman, and Baby Doreen, a brilliant little girl of only seven summers. Harry Ussher, the wonder-boy soprano, sings “When Mother Smiles at Me,” and “Yesterday,” and other items are given by Gwen Jones, the Acrobatic Sunbeams, and the Merry Twinklers. On the picture side of the pro • gramme is “Singed,” starring Blanche Sweet and Warner Baxter. Miss Sweet has the role of a dance hall girl who cannot undo her past in spite of her enormous wealth gained through a venture in oil leases. Chief Big Tree, of the Seneca tribe, known all over the world through posing for the fascinating art study,

“The End of the Trail,” is appearing in Fox Films’ version of “Singed,” starring Blanche Sweet, which will be the chief picture attraction at the National Theatre to-night.
