The i weather was ideal, and the track was in splendid condition. The totalisator handled £22,320, compared with £20,362 on the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £46,319, as against £45,188. Solrose and Martis were the first to show out, and led into the straight, where Rob joined them. A neck-and-neck tussle between Rob and Solrose resulted in the latter getting home by a nose, a similar distance separating Rob and Martis. Overliaul was fourth. Time, 1.15 1-5. TAIHOA HACK HANDICAP Of £170; 6 furlongs. 3 BRIGHTLING, 8.9, F. Voiglit .... 1 S—MONEY MINE, 8.4, J. L. Cotton 2 2 SPEARMAID, 9.2, J. T. Andrews . 3 Also started: 1, Coomassie, 8.5; 7 Real Glad, car. 7.13,; 5 Felony, 9 Appian Way, 4 Puff, G Lady Winton, 8.0. Real Glad, Money Mine, and Felony led to the far turn, where Coomassie came up and took the lead into the straight, with Money Mine and Real Glad close up. The leader fell back, and Brightling, coming up fast on the outside, challenged Money Mine, and passed the judge with one and a-half lengths to spare, a length separating second and third. Puff wa3 fourth. Time, 1.15 2-5. ALLANTON HANDICAP Of £215; 1 mile. 4 GAY SONNET, 8.0, C. Emerson . 3 5 SCHOTTISCHE, 7.7, L. J. Ellis . . 2 3 HEATHER LAD, 8.3, B. Brodie . 3 Also started: 1, Overdrawn, 9.0; 2. Sir Roy, 8.2; 6 King Sol, car. 7.2; 7 Lucy Locket, car. 7.10. Lucy Locket went away best, and led down the back stretch, with Overdrawn and Gay Sonnet lying handy', and the rest of the field strung out. Gay Sonnet assumed the lead, and headed the field into the straight, followed by Schottische and Overdrawn. The last-named dropped back, and Gay Sonnet increased her advantage, to win by three lengths from Schottische, who was a length away from Heather Lad, and Lucy Locket fourth. Time, 1.40 4-5. FAREWELL HANDICAP Of £193; 7 furlongs. I— NINCOMPOOP, 9.1, C. Emerson . 1 4 DISMANTLE, 7.7, D. M. Kerr .. 2 5 ARPENT, 7.0, C. E. Eastwood . . 3 Also started: 2, Circulation, 8.10; 3, Miss Winkie, 7.6; 6, Mime, car. 7.2. The field ran in a bunch to the far turn, where Circulation took charge, followed closely by Dismantle and Miss Winkie. These three turned into the home straight together, and Dismantle went ahead, only to be displaced by Nincompoop, who went on to win by a neck, with two lengths between second and third. Circulation was fourth. Time. 1.25.
